Variants of Traditional Pilot Watches
The Pioneers of Aviation and Their Chronometers

(k-press) Tourby Watches offer their Flieger range of pilot watches with aviator or navigator faces in standard sizes of 42 or 45 mm. All watches are available either with automatic or hand-wind movements. The design of each watch can be customized as requested by the customer. Tourby pilot watches are available as aviator or navigator models, their designs being similar to those of the A and B pilot-watch prototypes from WWII. Flieger watches go without a logo on the face, thus staying consistent with the original items. All models are available with either automatic or hand-wind movement. With the hand-wind versions, the customer can choose between a number of quality grades and finishes. The small second dial can be placed in the 9 o’clock or the 6 o’clock position or be completely omitted. A watchmaking specialty is the implementation of a central second hand on the hand-wind movement – this is similar to the preferred design of historical pilot watches. This type of conversion of the ETA Unitas 6497-1 movement is rather costly and therefore very rare; an automatic-movement version featuring the central second hand is available for limited budgets. All Tourby watches have sapphire glasses as a standard feature and are 5-atm waterproof.
„We build your watch“

Tourby Watches is a small company based in Hagen (Westphalia, Germany) that specializes in making exclusive mechanical chronometer watches. Rather than holding products in stock, Tourby produce their wristwatches only at their customers‘ specific requests. Thus, each watch is a unique item made to the customer’s taste and special demands. Customization is based on a large range of design and component options: Several watchcase designs and finishes, bezels, crowns, an extensive selection of dials and hands as well as various straps and clasps in any combination are available to choose from. This allows for creating classical wristwatches, pilot watches, or skeleton watches – each single one a unique item. Of course, special requests will be fulfilled, too. For example, the customer can have his or her name printed or engraved onto the watch for a surcharge. The Tourby Watches collection is actually meant to be a set of templates as all models can be redesigned to the detail. Tourby agents will discuss all specifics with the customer to build a unique custom watch.
